Frank Dunbar began loving comics at the young age of 6 when he picked up his first two comic books at the local newsstand in the small town of Crown Point, Indiana. One was a Marvel Comics title - "Godzilla, King of Monsters" #20, "Men & Monsters at the Metropolitan Museum", and it guest-starred the Fantastic Four and Dum Dum Duncan of S.H.I.E.L.D. The other was DC Comics, Justice League of America #159, where they teamed up with the Justice Society against the likes of Jonah Hex, Viking Prince, Miss Liberty, Black Pirate, and Enemy Ace. Of course, only being 6, and not having the collector mentality yet, Frank quickly destroyed those issues and lost them. Fast forward with 10 years of reading comics (mostly Spiderman at that point) and starting into drawing to the age of 16, Frank, found his own comic book superhero, Gecko, and decided that he wanted to be a part of this wonderful industry and inspire, through his art, the next generation as comic fans. He learned as many aspects of the comic business as he could from then on. He practiced everything from penciling to digital coloring. Then life interrupted his goals with many trials, such being diagnosed with cancer, cruel critics, a divorce, and the birth of his daughter, so Frank lost track of his dream. 6 years ago Frank met Gene Tipton, and the energy and imagination that fired when the two of them were around was astounding. That brought Frank back to his dreams, and he started with searching for and finding the first two comics that began his love for the medium, incidentally, those two issues now hang in a place of honor in his studio. Now as co-founder of Shot in the Dark Comics, Frank concentrates on many of the art related aspects for the initial takeoff of the business while writing and penciling Gecko and working hard as a husband and father.
